Michael B. Kim
Michael B. Kim is a Partner and founder of MBK Partners, which he helped establish in 2005. Prior to MBK Partners, Mr. Kim was President of Carlyle Asia Partners and a member of The Carlyle Group’s Management Committee. Earlier in his career he was the Managing Director and COO of Asia-Pacific Investment Banking for Salomon Smith Barney and an Executive Director at Goldman Sachs. He holds a BA with Honors from Haverford College, and an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he was a member of the Harvard Business School Board of Dean’s Advisors, and was a Fulbright Scholar.
Michael B. Kim serves as Chair of the Haverford College Board of Managers and as Chair of the MBK Scholarship Foundation, reflecting his longstanding commitment to education and leadership development. In 2024, Michael B. Kim partnered with Haverford College to create the Michael B. Kim Institute for Ethical Inquiry and Leadership. His board service spans leading cultural, academic, and philanthropic institutions, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Carnegie Hall, the New York Public Library, Harvard Business School, the Asia Business Leaders Advisory Council and the Temasek Philanthropy Asia Alliance. Reflecting this commitment to philanthropy, Forbes Asia named Kim one of their Heroes of Philanthropy in 2021, 2022 and 2024.
